Bumper & Commercial

My group decided to each do a radio bumper and a commercial and choose the best 3 of each category to go into our radio show. Below are my two completed assignments from the assignment bank that will (hopefully!) go into our show. I chose to do a Tamagotchi ad because it is something I played with A LOT as a kid. I remember sitting in my driveway with my neighbor for hours playing with them. I heard they’re making a comeback though, so I might have to go snag one just to see if it still brings me joy 🙂

For the bumper, I really wanted to remind the listeners to take a second and de-stress, since that is definitely something I need to be reminded of during this crazy semester!

Just Working Things

When thinking about what my daily life sounds like, I though a lot about my work life. I work retail and getting up and going to work is a DRAG, but ya know, gotta get that $$. So, I thought it would be funny to make a shortened version of my daily struggle to get up in the morning, to the loud hustle and bustle of my job, to me screaming in my car at the end of my shift out of frustration. Also, most of the beginning noises are animals, which I thought for some reason was hilarious that I can relate my morning struggle to the sounds of animals lol.

*note: I did not find any sounds of customers yelling at employees, but if I could’ve included that, I definitely would have because that happens to me at least once a day 🙂

Ted Talk

For my third assignment for this week, I chose to do a Ted Talk. The assignment was to listen to the way the speaker emphasized words and pauses, and try to recreate it using his speech. I’m always super nervous when it comes to public speaking, so this was definitely something that I needed practice in! I always talk really fast and tend to forget to emphasize words. It was a little difficult since this wasn’t my story to tell, but it was still good practice to integrate pauses and emphasis on certain words.

When ~Corona~ Ends

In the assignment bank this week, there was an assignment to change a rap song lyrics to post apocalyptic lyrics. I got the idea to change the “post apocalyptic” part to something Covid-19 related. This song came on the radio a few months ago and I substituted “September” with “Corona” and thought it would be funny to actually record it. I didn’t want to record the whole song because its pretty repetitive .. but anyways, here’s Wake Me Up When Corona Ends.

80’s Radio Commercial

Below is my version of an ad on an 80’s radio commercial! I had background music that was popular in the 80’s and found a product that is actually becoming popular again!
