Tell Me Something I Don’t Know

This assignment was a lot of fun because I got to talk about something I am passionate about – the oceans! I loved these fun facts I found and some of them were actually pretty interesting. I had a tough time editing this video because my computer AND phone decided that my storage was full and wouldn’t let me share/save anything I created. Gotta love technology, right? I had to improvise and use an older video I had and add a voice over and some background music.

Favorite College Memories

One of the assignments from the assignment bank this week was to create a video using some of my favorite college memories. I went a step further and voiced over some of my thoughts on college in general. This is something I thought about doing for my final project, so I thought this would be good practice and give me more ideas to talk about if I choose to do this for my final. I had a lot of fun compiling funny clips and pictures that I have saved over the years, and I get a little sad thinking about my time at UMW coming to an end here in just a few weeks.

Daily Creates

Below I have linked my 3 daily creates from this week! This week was a lot of fun, as it allowed me to look back on some of my favorite memories. I posted about my favorite garden in Richmond and my favorite type of tree, and these two posts brought back some great memories and adventures that I shared with my best friends! The third daily create had to do with drawing… and I am in no way an artist. I drew the image with my left hand (as requested by the prompt) and it looked like something straight out of a nightmare lol

Video Essay

This was actually super challenging for me since I tend to use “um” a lot when talking, especially giving presentations or something along those lines. I found myself having to record this a few times to get it close to the way I wanted it to sound, and even then it still didn’t sound right. I repeated myself a lot and it was hard to think of things to say when speaking about this scene, just because all I can think about while watching it was how real it looked, so that’s what I wanted to convey.

The movie I chose to discuss is the Impossible, and it’s available on Netflix for those who want to watch. It is definitely one of those movies that stuck with me for a long time and gave me an uneasy feeling about what happened. I actually forced my family to watch this movie because I thought it was so gripping and had some amazing scenes in it (they ended up loving it just as much as I did).

Daily Creates

Again, I hate to say it, but this wasn’t my favorite week of daily creates. It didn’t seem like I actually did anything creative… I just found pictures that I had in my camera roll and put them in a different context. It was fun to look back on memories and find something to fit into the parameters of the daily creates though. The last tweet is honestly something I still think about ALL THE TIME, so I’m glad I was able to share that this week lol.

My Characters Story

For this video assignment, I chose to use my dog as my character. If you can’t tell from my other posts, I’m a little obsessed with my dog, Abby. She does the funniest things and I love taking little videos of her. I recorded most of these clips during quarantine, so I decided to make this about her views on quarantine. Secretly, I think she loved quarantine because the whole family was home and she got to spend more time with us.

Of Most Importance

One of the assignments for this week was to determine what was most important in my life and make a video about it. I chose to do this on TikTok so I could also share it with those that I mentioned and so I could show off my amazing friends and family, duh. I had a lot of fun making this and talking about why these things make me the happiest. I combined the two TikTok’s I made into one video using iMovie.

A Day in the Life of Mo B

One of the assignments I chose from this weeks assignment bank was to create an every hour vlog. My life isn’t very exciting, so I decided to document getting ready for work, getting ready for practicum, and actually going to work. It was hard to remember to record a short video every hour, and if I’m being honest, I forgot a few hours and had to make something up lol. But overall, I think this was a fun assignment and it ended up documenting my day pretty well! I ended up using TikTok to make this video because I thought it was funny and my friends would like it too.

Final Project Ideas

When thinking about this final project, I get kind of sad realizing that this class is coming to an end. I have really enjoyed the theme for this class and hearing everyones stories related to themselves, and using their stories to compare and relate to my own. I am excited to jump into video making for our final project! Below I have included some ideas :

  • College highlights – mashing up pictures and videos of some of our favorite college memories and telling stories about those memories
  • Quarantine highlights – mashing up some things we did over quarantine — new hobbies we started, how we stayed sane, some shows we binged, how we spent time with our families, etc. Sharing pictures of things we did/created and telling how it went, if we liked it, etc.
  • Childhood highlights – taking pictures or videos from our childhood and voicing over them telling a story. Or put some pictures and tell funny memories we have from our childhood.

Creates Collide

This week, the goal of our daily creates was to connect them in some way. Honestly, I forgot about this when started my daily creates this week, as this isn’t something we normally do. Coincidentally, the daily creates this week lined up pretty well to make a funny story! I decided to make the story into more of a journal entry, and describe my story that way. It seemed easier to act as if I was retelling events that happened, rather than try to connect it all in the same point in time. Read my story below!

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved space. I even named my horse after my favorite planet, Saturn. I was determined to get to space from a young age, and as I’m writing to you now, I have accomplished that goal. Before I left, NASA thought it would be inspirational for young girls to place an image of me and my horse, Saturn, into their museum, along with an image of me now with my younger self. This was such an honor! My younger self would be so proud.

Anyways, I’m writing to you from the spaceship MoB4884, that is currently orbiting Saturn. This has definitely been a weird trip to say the least. Yesterday, you’ll never guess what I saw. Literally, you’ll never guess. I saw a turtle. Yep, you read that right. An actual turtle. But not just any turtle, a turtle laying on a bed, drinking a mixed drink! Crazy, right?! He must have gotten lost on his way to the Bahamas or something. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any weirder, I saw something else. I happened to be looking out the porthole of my spaceship and saw an alien! An actual alien! This was kind of expected though, as I am in space. He threw me the thumbs up and kept floating about his business. An interesting week to say the least!
