My name is Morgan and this website will be used for DS106
When looking at a few classmates’ posts from this week a few stuck out to me. Megan’s idea was really cool and was something that I hadn’t thought of! I would love to see everyones favorite posts from this semester compiled into a video.
Another great idea was Olivia’s thoughts on a DIY project/hack video. Expanding on this, I find the 5 Minute Craft videos to be whilarious sometimes with all the crazy stuff they come up with, and I would love to try some of them! I think that would be really neat to actually put some of these hacks to the test to see if they are worth the time!
The last blog post I really enjoyed was Hena’s thoughts on our final project. I honestly loved all of her ideas, especially the Disney podcast!
I think the class came up with really great ideas and I can’t wait to get working on this project and see everyones finished results!
This week was probably the most challenging week for me. I had a lot of issues with my video editing, and I’m not completely happy with how they turned out. My phone AND my laptop decided that their storage was full (what a bunch of bull), so it was really hard for me to record and share anything. I recorded two videos (my apocalypse socks and get to know me interview) on my phone and wanted to use iMovie to add music to the back. It was then that I figured out that I was out of storage and could not make any more movies. I hate that 2 of my movies I created this week don’t have music or anything behind them, but at this point theres nothing I can do. For next week, I will have to delete lots of pictures and movies in order to record my final project that’s coming up. I was able to create my college highlights before my devices decided to act up, so that one I am actually satisfied with. My last video (tell me something I don’t know) was also created after my devices crapped out on me. I used an older video I had created and added a voice over and used my phone to play music for the background. Don’t you just LOVE when technology decides to mess with your life?? Anyways, hopefully next week will be better once I clear some storage up (or buy more, which is the most likely option)!
Linked below are my posts from this week!
This assignment was probably my favorite from this week. I kind of turned it into a joke and got a little silly with it, but I had a lot of fun thinking about the things I would keep in my socks to carry around with me. Please enjoy my goofy answers, as it makes me chuckle to myself every time I watch it.
This video was a lot of fun to make. I got to answer some really fun and interesting questions from my co-workers and my friends! I loved this type of interview video and for a moment, I kind of felt like one of those YouTube stars that does this for a living, ya know?
*please don’t look at the thumbnail pic, I’m not technologically versed in YouTube editing to know how to change it, YIKES*
This assignment was a lot of fun because I got to talk about something I am passionate about – the oceans! I loved these fun facts I found and some of them were actually pretty interesting. I had a tough time editing this video because my computer AND phone decided that my storage was full and wouldn’t let me share/save anything I created. Gotta love technology, right? I had to improvise and use an older video I had and add a voice over and some background music.
One of the assignments from the assignment bank this week was to create a video using some of my favorite college memories. I went a step further and voiced over some of my thoughts on college in general. This is something I thought about doing for my final project, so I thought this would be good practice and give me more ideas to talk about if I choose to do this for my final. I had a lot of fun compiling funny clips and pictures that I have saved over the years, and I get a little sad thinking about my time at UMW coming to an end here in just a few weeks.
Below I have linked my 3 daily creates from this week! This week was a lot of fun, as it allowed me to look back on some of my favorite memories. I posted about my favorite garden in Richmond and my favorite type of tree, and these two posts brought back some great memories and adventures that I shared with my best friends! The third daily create had to do with drawing… and I am in no way an artist. I drew the image with my left hand (as requested by the prompt) and it looked like something straight out of a nightmare lol
This week was a fun week to expand on the tools in my toolbox that I have began collecting from this class. I enjoyed doing some of the assignments from the assignment bank this week and turning them into TikToks so I can share them with my friends and family. They found them pretty funny, so I’m glad I was able to create something to share with them, but also use it as an assignment for this class as well.
I think my video essay could’ve gone a little better than it did, but at that point in the day, I had given up on trying to make it perfect. I had tried so many times to redo it and make it better but I found myself saying the same things and using “um” a lot even though I really tried to avoid it.
Overall, I think it was a good-ish week. Not my favorite, and not my best, but not bad! Below are my posts from this week:
This was actually super challenging for me since I tend to use “um” a lot when talking, especially giving presentations or something along those lines. I found myself having to record this a few times to get it close to the way I wanted it to sound, and even then it still didn’t sound right. I repeated myself a lot and it was hard to think of things to say when speaking about this scene, just because all I can think about while watching it was how real it looked, so that’s what I wanted to convey.
The movie I chose to discuss is the Impossible, and it’s available on Netflix for those who want to watch. It is definitely one of those movies that stuck with me for a long time and gave me an uneasy feeling about what happened. I actually forced my family to watch this movie because I thought it was so gripping and had some amazing scenes in it (they ended up loving it just as much as I did).
Again, I hate to say it, but this wasn’t my favorite week of daily creates. It didn’t seem like I actually did anything creative… I just found pictures that I had in my camera roll and put them in a different context. It was fun to look back on memories and find something to fit into the parameters of the daily creates though. The last tweet is honestly something I still think about ALL THE TIME, so I’m glad I was able to share that this week lol.
